Vermont Governor Announces Second Round of Hazard Pay for Essential Workers

Workers who meet the set requirements could receive up to $2,000 in hazard pay.

Vermont essential workers may be eligible to receive a second installation of hazard pay for working during the pandemic, reports the Burlington Free Press.

Employees, both current and former, who worked from March 13 through May 15 could be eligible. The payments, which will go to those who work in grocery stores, pharmacies and select retail stores, will be distributed by the Department of Financial Regulation.

“This phase recognizes some of the forgotten heroes of last spring: the people who kept us fed, housed our most vulnerable, cared for our children, and so much more,” said Gov. Phil Scott.

The online application for employers to recommend employees for the next round of hazard pay opened on October 28. A total of $22.5 million is available to workers. Those selected to receive the hazard pay will get either $1,2000 or $2,000, depending on how many hours they worked.
