CDC Hosts Public Health Legal Preparedness Webinar

A webinar will be held on March 27, 2008, at 2 p.m. ET on the newly updated CDC courses "Forensic Epidemiology 3.0" and "Public Health Emergency Law 3.0."

It will be moderated by Dr. Richard Goodman, JD, MPH, of the CDC's Public Health Law Program, who will also describe the new "National Action Agenda for Public Health Legal Preparedness" (co-sponsored by NACCHO) and how local health departments can use it to assess and strengthen their legal preparedness for all-hazards public health emergencies.

Other speakers include: Priscilla Keith, JD, General Counsel to the Marion County (IN) Health and Hospital Corp.; Martin Fenstersheib, MD, MPH, Health Officer, Santa Clara County, Public Health Department, and Wilfredo Lopez, JD, Counsel Emeritus to the NYC Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Accounts will also be given on how public health professionals and counterparts in law enforcement and emergency management agencies who participated in the original training, beginning in 2004, strengthened their ability to conduct joint investigations of suspected bioterrorist events and joint responses to public health emergencies.
