It’s Time to Update Your Respiratory Protection Written Program

In the last two years we have seen Emergency Temporary Standards come and go. We have been challenged with new terminology such as Source Capture, Source Control, Barrier Face Coverings, and Respiratory Protection. As OSHA works toward a permanent regulatory solution, OSHA will vigorously enforce the general duty clause and its general standards, including the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Respiratory Protection Standards, to help protect all workers — not just healthcare employees — from the hazard of emerging infectious diseases and workplace hazards.

The elements of OSHA’s respiratory protection standard, 29 CFR 1910.134 never really changed. Yes, we were given new guidance and help through OSHA’s Emergency Temporary Standards — some of these where overwhelming for even the most seasoned safety professionals. How do we maintain and update our programs? Confusion is not a defense for noncompliance; following the regulations and industry best practices are vital for companies that want to protect their workers and their families.

In this webinar, we will discuss how it has never been so important to incorporate OSHA’s hierarchy of controls and add a risk-based breaking the chain of infection approach into the updating of our Respiratory Protection programs.
