OSHA has fined the company $263,498 for 15 serious and two repeated safety violations.
Shareholders of both companies approved the deal Aug. 17. The companies expect to complete the merger Sept. 2 and predict they will realize $1 billion of savings from synergies and productivity initiatives.
Two employees were severely injured Feb. 12, 2016, when a compressed gas cylinder designed for a fire-suppression system exploded while they were attempting to fill it with compressed air from a high-pressure source.
The department acknowledged that OSHA's investigation process can take time and complainants may be able to receive a determination more quickly without losing their rights to a hearing by electing to expedite OSHA's processing of their claims.

"Test results indicate inconsistencies in the performance ratings of these industrial garments, and some of the garments may not currently meet the requirements of NFPA 2112 and NFPA 70E," the company's announcement stated.
"This revised draft guidance is an important step forward in the agency's work to protect public health from potentially dangerous new dietary ingredients," said Steven Tave, acting director of FDA's Office of Dietary Supplement Programs.
