OSHA Cites Connecticut Contractor for Continued Safety Violations
Federal safety officials have proposed more than $1 million in penalties after a follow-up inspection found repeated excavation and workplace safety violations.

Federal workplace safety officials have cited an Easton earthwork contractor for continued safety violations following a follow-up inspection and proposed more than $1 million in fines, the U.S. Department of Labor has announced.
OSHA found that the contractor failed to correct previously identified hazards related to excavation and other workplace safety requirements, exposing workers to serious risks. The enforcement action follows earlier inspections that identified similar violations.
OSHA said the action underscores the agency’s continued focus on enforcing federal safety standards and ensuring that employers take corrective measures to protect workers from preventable injuries and hazards on the job. The proposed penalty reflects the agency’s determination that violations were willful or repeated, and officials said compliance will continue to be monitored.
The contractor has the right to contest the citations and proposed penalties through the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
