New Leadership Announced at OSHA, MSHA, and ODEP

The U.S. Department of Labor has appointed new leaders to direct the OSHA, and the Mine Safety and Health Administration, and the Office of Disability Employment Policy. The appointments are aimed at strengthening workplace safety, compliance, and worker protection across industries.

The U.S. Department of Labor has announced new leadership appointments across several key workplace safety and health agencies, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), and the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP).

David Keeling has been confirmed as Assistant Secretary for OSHA. With a background in transportation safety and compliance, he will oversee efforts to strengthen workplace safety programs, refine enforcement priorities, and support employers in maintaining safe and healthy job sites.

Wayne Palmer has been appointed to lead MSHA, where he will guide the agency’s mission to reduce mining injuries, illnesses, and fatalities through inspection, education, and compliance assistance.

Julie Hocker will serve as Assistant Secretary for ODEP, focusing on policies that expand workforce inclusion and accessibility for people with disabilities.

The appointments mark a new phase of leadership for the Department of Labor’s safety and compliance initiatives. Each agency will continue advancing programs that support worker protection, hazard prevention, and equitable access to safe employment across industries.
