The National Safety Council (NSC) is spearheading the 28th annual National Safety Month in June 2024. This year’s edition of the annual observance highlights specific key safety issues with a goal of building awareness of the leading causes of preventable injuries and fatalities in the workplace.
According to a recent release, each week of the month brings the focus to a different prominent safety topic. Week 1 will focus on Safety Engagement, followed by Roadway Safety in Week 2, Risk Reduction in Week 3, and Slips, Trips, and Falls in Week 4.
“First launched in 1996 to educate and encourage safe behaviors at work, on the roads and in communities, National Safety Month is also a time to remember that keeping each other safe is one of the most important things we can ever do,” NSC President and CEO Lorraine Martin said in a statement. “At NSC, we know employers and individuals who encourage others to be safe at work, at home, and everywhere in between are preventing injuries and saving lives. Thank you for being a safety role model; the impact you have on others is immeasurable.”
The NSC offers free workplace safety resources online, including graphics, videos, games and articles. For more information on National Safety Month, visit the web page.
