To address rising temperatures and their effects on the nation’s workforce, OSHA has announced the return of its "Beat the Heat" photo contest. Launched in 2023, the competition aims to promote awareness of both outdoor and indoor heat hazards.
According to a recent release, employers, workers and other stakeholders from all industries are invited to participate. The focus is on images highlighting effective strategies for mitigating heat risks, encouraging widespread adoption of best practices.
Participants are asked to submit photos showcasing individuals properly protected from heat exposure. And entries will be evaluated based on photo quality, originality, creativity, suitability for OSHA publications, clarity of message and inclusion of workplace imagery. All submissions must be received by July 19, 2024.
Winners will receive a "Beat the Heat" Challenge coin and be featured on OSHA’s website as well as its online newsletters. Full contest rules and submission instructions are available on OSHA’s “Beat the Heat” web page.
