NSC Will Host Its Fourth Annual SAFER Summit on December 5

The virtual event will focus on post-pandemic workplace safety.

In the wake of a global pandemic, the National Safety Council (NSC) has announced its fourth annual SAFER Summit will aim to address the complexities of a shifting workplace landscape.

Scheduled for Dec. 5, 2023, the free virtual event is set to spotlight topics such as psychological safety, the future of remote work and strategies for pandemic preparedness. The discussions will also center on NSC's latest research on how employees feel about mental health, workplace psychological safety, substance misuse and the effects of long Covid on the workforce.

The event launches at 9 a.m. with NSC President and CEO Lorraine Martin’s brief opening remarks, followed by a breakdown of NSC’s research from Senior Research Associate Caitlin Lang. The summit will not shy away from the tough lessons of the pandemic. A segment titled "The Pandemic has Ended...Now What?" features health experts and representatives from the CDC, discussing the milestones achieved during COVID-19 and the implications for the future.

Further into the agenda, expert panels will delve into workforce well-being, tackling issues of loneliness, burnout and substance misuse while also addressing the stigma associated with these challenges. Insights into building resilience and social connections among employees will be shared by a diverse group of thought leaders from organizations including the American Psychological Association and the Foundation for Social Connection.

Closing out the event, Nicholas Bloom, an economics professor at Stanford University, will shed light on the evolving dynamics of remote work. His extensive research provides frameworks for leaders grappling with remote team productivity and the adaptability required in today's work environments.

Interested parties can register for NSC’s SAFER Summit 2023 on the event’s webpage.
