OSHA’s Maritime Advisory Committee on OSH Meets November 14

The public can attend the meeting both in person and online.

OSHA has confirmed the date for its next Maritime Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (MACOSH) meeting as Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. According to a release dated Oct. 23, the full committee will meet from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. EST, and the Shipyard and Longshoring workgroups will hold sessions from 1 to 5 p.m. EST.

A significant portion of the meeting will be dedicated to presenting reports from the Shipyard and Longshoring workgroups. In addition, attendees can look forward to a detailed presentation focusing on OSHA's social media and outreach initiatives. The U.S. Navy will also be a special presentation from the U.S. Navy emphasizing maritime fall protection.

Different OSHA departments—including the Directorate of Standards and Guidance and the Office of Maritime and Agriculture—will provide key updates. Agency leaders will also share insights on the OSHA heat standard rulemaking initiative. As an advisor to the Secretary of Labor, MACOSH guides maritime standards and addresses OSHA matters within the industry.

Interested parties can now register to attend the meeting either in person or online, though in-person public attendance is limited to 25 participants. Comments or requests to speak can be directed to the Federal eRulemaking Portal under Docket Number OSHA-2022-0011-0043. The deadline for submissions is Oct. 31. All entries must include the relevant docket number.
