A Look at National Ladder Safety Month 2023

Wondering what to do for National Ladder Safety Month in March? Take a look at this year’s themes and webinars.

Tomorrow marks the start of National Ladder Safety Month 2023.

Celebrated every March, National Ladder Safety Month—led by the American Ladder Institute—focuses on education and awareness of ladder use.

In 2020, 161 workers suffered fatal injuries from using ladders, per the Bureau of Labor Statistics. And in the fiscal year 2022, violations involving ladders in construction ranked fourth in OSHA’s top 10 most frequently cited standards, with 2,143 violations found.

Ladder Safety Month is broken down into four themes, one for each week of the month. In order, the themes for 2023 are choosing your ladder, safety before the first step—which also includes inspection and set up—safety while climbing and safety at the top.

Two webinars will also be presented during the month, one on March 15 and one on March 23. On March 15, tune in at 11:00 a.m. EDT to hear the “Innovation Around Ladder Safety” webinar (register here); and on March 23, listen to the webinar called “Just Lean Into It—Getting the Most out of Your Stepladder” from 2 to 3 p.m. EDT (register here).

Follow along with OH&S as we highlight different aspects of ladder safety throughout the month.
