Resources for Getting Involved with VPPPA

Can’t go to VPPPA Safety+ Symposium? Here are other ways to get involved.

The VPPPA Safety+ Symposium is a great resource for networking and learning more about safety. If you’re unable to attend, VPPPA has additional resources to help employees and employers achieve safety.

There are 10 VPPPA regions with individual chapters across the country. Each region hosts its own conference and workshops. Employees and employers can contact their respective regions and get involved through events, partnerships and volunteer work.

People can also sign up for mentorships. VPPPA can pair workers in any industry with a mentor to "help you grow," VPPPA Chairman of the Board Terry Schulte said. "We do that quite a bit..."

VPPPA also has numerous online resources. In July, VPPPA published the VPP Online System. This system “will have a whole host of resources,” Schulte said, including an annual self-evaluation for VPP and non-VPP sites. Although star-level sites must submit this form every year, non-VPP sites can use this tool to assess their worksite, identify “opportunities for improvement,” “track” changes and “collaborate,” Schulte said.

Later this year, VPPPA is also publishing a new learning management system. Next year, the organization will host a virtual event called Next-Level Safety.

If you’re looking for additional resources, you can access VPPPA magazines, articles and blogs online. You can also sign up for VPPPA email blasts and follow its social media.

“There's always something that the VPPPA can offer to any safety professional no matter what level of safety professional you are,” Schulte said.
