OSHA Reopens Arizona State Plan Comment Period, Changes Hearing Date

The changes two agencies in Arizona have made will be available for comment.

Comments on OSHA’s proposal to reconsider or revoke Arizona’s State OSHA Plan will be reopened soon, the agency said this week.

According to a press release, the comment period will be reopened for 60 days, and the hearing date will be rescheduled.

In April 2022, OSHA proposed reconsidering or revoking the state plan in Arizona due to an alleged failure to adopt certain standards and penalty levels. The proposal was open to the public for comment until July 5.

At the end of the comment period, two agencies in Arizona, The Industrial Commission of Arizona and its sub-agency, the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health, submitted a comment about the changes that were made.

These changes included increasing penalties and adopting standards, according to a press release. During the 60-day comment period, stakeholders can comment on these changes. Stakeholders can submit comments online once the Federal Register is available.
