Wisconsin Glass Companies Designated “Star” Level Sites

The two companies were recognized for their work in health and safety.

Two glass companies in Wisconsin were named “star” level sites for worker health and safety.

According to a press release, Cardinal Automation Group, Spring Green, Wisconsin, and Cardinal Insulated Glass, Spring Green, Wisconsin, divisions of Cardinal Glass Industries, were named “Star” level sites. The certification is under OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), which recognizes employers for their “effective safety and health management systems,” according to the website.

Employees at Cardinal Automation Group make “custom manufacturing equipment.” In total, both locations employ about 560 workers.

“Both of these Cardinal Glass Industries’ divisions embed a culture of safety in which all employees voluntarily participate on safety teams, attend training alongside their management team and provide peer review of work areas for safety issues. These sites encourage employee-driven safety solutions,” said OSHA Regional Administrator William Donovan in Chicago in the press release. “Star Level designation in the Voluntary Protection Program is the highest safety achievement a company can earn from OSHA. Cardinal’s commitment to safety and health management systems are excellent examples of the value of employee involvement, empowerment and ownership.”
