Digital Transformation: From Convincing to Adoption

Each year I attend a safety conference, like the American Society of Safety Professionals Safety 2022 Professional Development Conference and Exposition, I like to walk around the expo hall and talk with manufacturers and solutions providers about what they are working on currently and what is coming down the pipeline.
This week, I’ve heard a lot about one particular topic: digital transformation. While the phrase is not new to the safety industry, it has picked up in popularity through the years. For a time, manufacturers in the industry believed they were spending a lot of time having to convince safety professionals what the benefits of digital solutions were.
In a world where the average person owns multiple smart devices and understands the convenience they bring to their lives, it is easy to understand how digital solutions in safety and health can benefit safety professionals in the long run.
Talking with manufacturers on the expo floor, it sounds like the industry is officially out of the “convincing stage” and has crossed over into the early stages of adoption. Perhaps the biggest roadblock now is showing companies and organizations what they need and how easy it can be to switch over to these new solutions.
Change is never easy but sometimes it takes an inconvenience to bring you more efficient and convenient practices.
