CDC Updates Recommendations for Next Booster

People over 50, immunocompromised are eligible for booster shot

This week, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) updated their recommendations for COVID-19 booster vaccines.

According to a press release, people who are over 50 or those who are immunocompromised will be eligible for their next booster. They can receive the shot if their last booster was at least four months ago.

Also included in the release, people who received the Johnson & Johnson Janssen shot and booster can get another mRNA vaccine booster.

Director of the CDC Dr. Rochelle P. Walensky said in the release, “This is especially important for those 65 and older and those 50 and older with underlying medical conditions that increase their risk for severe disease from COVID-19 as they are the most likely to benefit from receiving an additional booster dose at this time.

In addition, the CDC released a calculator to predict quarantine and isolation times based on answers to questions about exposure, symptoms, vaccine status and test results.
