Violations Issued to Companies After Worker Electrocuted

Three companies have been issued fines for workplace safety

Three companies are facing penalties after a worker fell and was injured.

According to a press release, OSHA inspected the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Run Fossil Plant in Clinton, Tennessee after one worker fell and was electrocuted on energized electrical equipment.

OSHA found Williams Specialty Services, G UB MK Constructors, and TVA did not determine the structural integrity of surfaces employees worked from. OSHA also fined William Specialty Services for not having safe access to platforms and programs for inspections.

“Had the employer identified and mitigated safety hazards at the work site as required, this tragedy could have been prevented,” said OSHA Area Director William Cochran in Nashville, Tennessee in a press release. “Employers are legally and morally obligated to provide their workers a work environment where their safety is not in jeopardy. It’s time all employers realize that as well.”

William Specialty Services has one willful and two serious violations with a penalty of $152,900; G UB MK Constructors was cited for one serious violation and $14,502 in fines; and TVA was cited for one serious notice.
