Pew Study Shows Favor Towards Remote Working in Certain Industries

Fifty percent of Americans would prefer to work from home even after the pandemic is over, says a report by Pew Research Center.

A report recently published by Pew Research Center details more than half of surveyed American’s desire to continue working remotely after the pandemic is over, according to Star Tribune.

The report draws its data from a survey of 10,332 adults that was conducted between October 13 and 19. Respondents feel that their job duties have not changed in a significant way since they began working from home.

“Another third [of Americans] said they’d want to work from home some of the time. A very small share want to go back to the office full-time,” said Juliana Horowitz, associate director of social trends at Pew Research Center.

According to the survey, more than 60% of people are equally as satisfied with their jobs now as they were before the pandemic. Thirty-eight percent of people stated that balancing work and home life has been easier due to working remotely.

On the other hand, there are 62% of Americans whose jobs cannot be done from home. The majority of those who are unable to work remotely (84%) are in the retail, trade or transportation industry.
