OH&S SafetyPod: Your FR/AR Safety PPE Questions—Answered: Global Standards

Interested in how to create an effective FR/AR program that works globally? Tune in as Editor Sydny Shepard talks with Paul Castelli, Westex's International Sales Director, about standards and certifications that transcend location.

Creating a flame resistant and arc rated PPE program for your company can be a struggle. Creating a FR/AR program that is consistent throughout multiple locations of your company—including international locations—can be very difficult. There is so much to consider, including standards, certification requirements for fabrics and garments and as well as making sure all employees are comfortable and safe while working on the job.

To answer some of my questions about creating an effective FR/AR program globally, I decided to reach out to our friends at Westex. They put me in touch with Paul Castelli, Westex’s international sales director. Paul strikes a balance between technical knowledge and real-world experience relating to arc flash and flash fire hazards. His expertise on the NFPA, ISO and CGSB standards benefit both direct customers and end users as they build and refine thermal hazard protection programs.

Shaped by his fluency in English, Italian and French, Paul brings a global perspective to the thermal hazard conversation, where he emphasizes the foundational importance of branded flame resistant fabrics in personal protective equipment (PPE) to help keep industrial workers safe on the job.
