OH&S SafetyPod: Controlling Hazardous Dusts in Manufacturing & Processing Facilities

OH&S Editor Sydny Shepard discusses analyzing, studying and controlling hazardous dusts with Camfil APC's Jon Ladwig.

A few months ago we did a pretty comprehensive look at combustible dust in an episode of the podcast titled, “A Crash Course in Combustible Dust.” In that interview we talked about particles that can be found in facilities, and when given the ability to build up and find a heat source, can become rather explosive. In that episode, several kinds of combustible dusts were discussed—but we didn’t really cover the full gamut of dusts and what kind of hazards they may have apart from their flammability.

In this episode of the podcast, I’m so excited to have on Jon Ladwig to talk to us about all kinds of hazardous dusts, what industries in which they can be found and—most importantly—how to collect these dusts in the safest manner possible.

Jon Ladwig is the Systems Market Manager for Camfil APC. He has 20 years of experience working with Metalworking applications like welding and thermal cutting. During those 20 years, he has planned, designed and managed installations directly for end users while also being directly involved in product improvements as well as new product developments at Camfil APC.
