OH&S SafetyPod: A Crash Course in Combustible Dust
OH&S Editor Sydny Shepard and Combustible Dust expert Russell Ogle discuss the hazards of combustible dust, what to look for and how to react in the event of a catastrophic incident.
The buildup of potentially flammable particles is no joke, especially when that dust can create a catastrophic incident when in the proper conditions to combust.
In this episode of OH&S SafetyPod, we sit down with Russell Ogle, the Practice Director and Principle Engineer at Exponent Failure Analysis Associates in Warrenville, Ill. to give us a crash course in combustible dust. Dr. Ogle holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Iowa and has over 30 years’ experience working with industrial fires, explosions, and chemical releases. He even published a textbook on “Dust Explosion Dynamics” in 2016.
We get down to the nitty gritty of combustible dust: how can you identify if your facility has it, what can be done to prevent it and what to do in the event of a combustible dust explosion. This isn’t an episode you’ll want to miss.
