MIOSHA Signs New Alliance Agreement with MTMIC

This is the fourth time the Manufacturing Technology Mutual Insurance Company has renewed its alliance with the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

MIOSHA, the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the Manufacturing Technology Mutual Insurance Company recently signed an alliance agreement formalizing their mutual commitment to workplace safety and health. This is the fourth time MTMIC has renewed its alliance with MIOSHA. with the previous alliance signings occurring in 2009, 2012, and 2015.

"We're pleased to sign this alliance that brings together our organizations to expand education, outreach and information sharing throughout the state," said MIOSHA Director Bart Pickelman. "MTMIC is a longstanding MIOSHA partner, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with them and their constituents to develop appropriate safety and health programs to keep workers safe."

Through the alliance, MTMIC members will gain a greater understanding of the rights of workers and the responsibilities of employers under the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Act. The team will meet at least three times annually to track and share information on activities and results in achieving the goals of the alliance. The alliance is in effect for three years from its date of signing.

"Since the inception of our alliance, 150 of our policyholders have used MIOSHA's services with great success and deemed it an invaluable training tool," said Chris Demeter, senior loss control consultant at MTMIC. "The alliance affords employers and selected employees the opportunity to learn how to identify unsafe or unhealthy acts or conditions and MIOSHA enforcement violations."

Since 1976, MTMIC has provided workers' compensation insurance to employers throughout Michigan.
