Next 'Coffee with MIOSHA' Set for Dec. 21

Lawrence Hidalgo, director of MIOSHA's Construction Safety and Health Division, is scheduled to be the featured speaker at the event in Marquette.

Inviting all Michigan employers and employees to participate -- keep in mind that there were about 4.7 million employed workers in the state as of October 2018, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics -- the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration will host its next "Coffee with MIOSHA" event on Dec. 21 in Marquette. MIOSHA is teaming with the Upper Peninsula Construction Council to provide an update on workplace safety and health standards for Michigan workers, new reporting rules, goals and emphasis areas, and best practices.

Lawrence Hidalgo, director of MIOSHA's Construction Safety and Health Division, is scheduled to be the featured speaker.

The event is free and open to all Michigan employers and employees; the agency's announcement said coffee and networking will start at 9 a.m., when there will be an opportunity to informally meet with MIOSHA staffers. It is scheduled to end at noon.

The venue is the Staybridge Hotel, 855 West Washington St. Those interested in participating are asked to RSVP to Tony Retaskie at [email protected] by Tuesday, Dec. 11, but walk-ins are welcome.

MIOSHA partners with organizations throughout the state to offer "Coffee with MIOSHA" events periodically throughout the year at no charge to employers or workers. MIOSHA's Consultation Education and Training Division services also are offered at no charge. For free statewide assistance, companies can call the CET Division at 517-284-7720 or toll-free at 800-866-4674.
