OSHA's Safe + Sound Week Begins Today

The nationwide event is part of the campaign of the same name, which aims to "raise awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health programs that include management leadership, worker participation, and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards in workplaces," according to OSHA.

OSHA's Safe + Sound Week begins today, taking place Aug. 13-19. The nationwide event is part of the campaign of the same name, which aims to "raise awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health programs that include management leadership, worker participation, and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards in workplaces," according to OSHA.

Multiple organizations partner with OSHA to organize the Safe + Sound campaign, including AIHA, VPPPA, ASSP, NSC, the Center for Construction Research and Training, and NIOSH. In addition, more than 200 organizations and businesses are partnering with OSHA to promote safety and health programs with the goal of reducing workplace injuries and deaths.

Organizations of any size or industry are encouraged to participate in Safe + Sound Week events in order to begin their safety and health programs or strengthen an existing one. OSHA's website offers materials for activities and events that include all three elements of a successful workplace health and safety program: management leadership, worker participation, and finding and fixing hazards.

Organizations who participate in the event may download a certificate of recognition for joining the effort to improve their safety and health programs.
