OAOHN Annual Conference Tackling Wide Range of Health Issues

The Nov. 2-4 event is focused on workplace behavioral and cultural issues, with active shooter response, treating opioid overdoses, CPR, and a spirometry refresher course also on the program.

Columbus, Ohio, is the location for the 2017 annual conference of the Ohio Association of Occupational Health Nurses (OAOHN), an event taking place Nov. 2-4 at a conference center that is part of the Delaware County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

The program lists the wide range of topics to be covered, from ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) active shooter training to wellness; updates on state legislation and also federal legislation, including efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act; EAP programs; the opioid overdose problems in Ohio and responses to it; a NIOSH-approved pre-conference spirometry refresher course; and Nov. 2 presentations about Amish, Hispanic, and African-American cultural influences in health care.

OAOHN's president, Shanna Dunbar, RS, COHN-S, says in her welcome message that the event will address topics of interest to nurses, safety managers, HR professionals, and industrial hygienists.
