Airlines Reported 27 Tarmac Delays Over Three Hours in May

The delays were all on domestic flights, according to DOT.

DOT reported that 27 tarmac delays of more than three hours on domestic flights were recorded in May. The news was published in the July 2017 Air Travel Consumer Report. No tarmac delays of more than four hours on international flights were recorded.

Twenty-four of the long delays occurred in Philadelphia on May 25, when thunderstorms hit the area. Flights were less on time than the previous year, coming in at 79.1 percent vs. 83.4 percent. The flights were more on time than in April 2017, however. On-time flights occurred 78.5 percent of the time in April.
