2017 Public Safety Broadband Stakeholder Meeting Starts June 12

The three-day annual event hosted by NIST’s Public Safety Communications Research Division is taking place at the Marriott Rivercenter in San Antonio.

The 2017 Public Safety Broadband Stakeholder Meeting is taking place next week. A three-day annual event, it is hosted by NIST's Public Safety Communications Research Division, and the June 12-14 event is taking place at the Marriott Rivercenter in San Antonio.

It brings together representatives from public safety, federal agencies, industry, and academia to learn about and discuss testing updates, upcoming R&D efforts, and opportunities to get involved, as well as cutting-edge technology trends and functionality. For PSCR engineers and personnel, it's an opportunity to receive direct input, guidance, and feedback from their stakeholders.

This year's agenda includes a June 12 session about indoor localization of first responders, a public safety analytics external partners panel on June 12, an international public safety deployment panel and also a FirstNet session on June 13, and June 14 sessions on deployable systems for public safety and public safety image quality.

The division has earned several awards for advancing public safety communications. It works with firefighters to understand how noise affects voice communications and acts as an objective technical advisor and laboratory for the public safety community to accelerate the adoption and implementation of critical public safety communication technologies.
