Data Comm Reducing Delays at Miami International Airport
The technology improves the communication between air traffic controllers and pilots
According to a news release, Data Comm is helping to reduce the number of Delays at Miami International Airport. The technology improves communication between air traffic controllers and pilots by supplementing voice communication with button inputs to communicate flight plans, advisories and more.
“Data Comm represents a whole new era of communications between controllers and pilots,” said Jim Eck, the FAA’s Assistant Administrator for NextGen. “This translates directly into safer, more efficient operations, helping aircraft take off and reach their destinations on time.”
By using these messages to communicate clearances, pilots can avoid using two-way radios which are time consuming.
