CDC Reviewing Air Quality of Air Hoses in Some Laboratories
The review will focus whether or not staff that used the hoses could have been exposed to chemical compounds from the hoses themselves
According to a report, the CDC has begun a review of the air quality associated with air hoses attached to protective suits worn in its Biosafety Level-4 labs. The review will specifically focus on whether the staff that has used the hoses could have been exposed to unknown chemical compounds from the hoses themselves.
The review comes after the agency learned from the company that now owns the manufacturer that the air hoses were not certified to be used for breathing air. Work in the lab has been suspended has the CDC tests the air that comes through the laboratory hoses.
