MSHA to Award $1 Million for Mine Safety Education and Training
The Brookwood-Sago grants will honor 25 fallen Alabama and West Virginia miners.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration had made up to $1 million available in grants for education and training programs that will help identify, avoid, and prevent unsafe working conditions in and around the country's mines.
The funds are part of the Brookwood-Sago grant program, which honors 25 fallen miners from Alabama and West Virginia. Recipients of the grant will develop education and training programs, with an emphasis on programs that target small mines.
According to the agency's news release, each grant recipient will receive at least $50,000, up to a maximum of $250,000 based on milestones and availability.
