EASA Updates Samsung Galaxy Note7 Guidelines
After monitoring the recall of Galaxy Note7, the agency has updated its guidelines.
The EASA has withdrawn the SIB 2016-14 R1 and published the SIB 2017-01, according to a news release. The new SIB contains new recommendations for transporting potentially hazardous lithium batteries by air. It also no longer specifically refers to Samsung Galaxy Note7 devices.
According to the report, the agency has been monitoring the Samsung Galaxy Note7 story and has kept in contact with representatives from Samsung. EASA says that 94% of all devices sold on the European market have been recalled, and that Samsung released a European update that would keep the devices from working going forward.
The amendment also removes the requirement for air carriers to alert passengers to the prohibition against air transport of the device.
