Senate Transportation Committee Sets Hearing on Regulatory Burdens

The Feb. 1 hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Eastern time and will examine the negative impacts of unnecessarily burdensome regulations on the nation's economy, and how a better approach would create jobs and spur economic growth.

U.S. Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., who chairs the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, will convene a full committee hearing Feb. 1 that is titled "A Growth Agenda: Reducing Unnecessary Regulatory Burdens." It is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Eastern time and will examine the negative impacts of unnecessarily burdensome regulations on the nation's economy, and how a better approach would create jobs and spur economic growth, according to the committee's announcement.

Scheduled witnesses include Jack N. Gerard, president and CEO of the American Petroleum Institute; Rosario Palmieri, vice president of Labor, Legal and Regulatory Policy for the National Association of Manufacturers; Adam J. White, research fellow at the Hoover Institution; and Prof. Lisa Heinzerling, Justice William J. Brennan, Jr., professor of law at Georgetown Law Center.

This hearing will take place in the Senate Hart Office Building, Room 216. Witness testimony, opening statements, and a live video of the hearing will be available on www.commerce.senate.gov.
