E-Cigarette Sparks Fire on American Airlines Flight

No one was hurt on the flight, which made an emergency landing in Arkansas.

The Associated Press reported that an American Airlines flight from Dallas to Indianapolis made an emergency landing in Arkansas after an e-cigarette malfunctioned and started a small fire.

None of the 137 passengers or five crew members was injured, an American Airlines spokesman said. The crew quickly extinguished the fire, and no damage was found on the aircraft.

The Federal Aviation Administration allows e-cigarettes in carry-ons but not in checked luggage. The agency is investigating the details of the incident, according to the AP report.
