Masonry Contractor Fined $345K for Exposing Workers to Scaffolding Hazards

The company, a severe violator, has been cited 41 times since 2011

J.C. Stucco and Stone, a Lansdowne, Pa., masonry contractor, has been fined $344,960 after a March 2016 for violations related to two 2014 inspections.

The company was seeking a hearing by the Occupational Safety and Health Review Comission, and the two parties entered into a partial settlement prior to the hearing. The company has agreed to accept the willful and repeat citations as issued.

“J.C. Stucco has a long history of leaving workers unprotected from incidents that can cause injuries and possible death and result from falls and unsafe scaffolding,” said Theresa Downs, OSHA area director in Philadelphia. “Workers should not have to risk their lives for the sake of a paycheck.”

The company was placed in the Severe Violator Enforcement Program in 2011 for instances of repeated, high-gravity violations.
