FAA Policy Encourages Voluntary Safety Equipment Installation
The new policy is intended for general aviation aircraft.
According to a report from the FAA, a new policy encourages general aviation aircraft owners to install safety equipment on airplanes and helicopters that is not required by regulations. By doing this, according to the FAA, it will reduce the costs and time of the installation of Non-Required Safety Enhancing Equipment (NORSEE).
NORSEE includes avionics, electronic instruments, displays, and mechanical equipment, according to the FAA. This equipment can help increase situational awareness.
This policy is a collaboration under the General Aviation Joint Steering Committee and adds to an existing 2014 policy.
