DOL Awards $1.4 Million for Storm Recovery Efforts in Texas

The money will be used for cleanup and recovery after severe storms in the summer of 2015.

The U.S. Department of Labor has approved a National Dislocated Worker Grant of $1,436,712 to create temporary jobs for about 120 people to assist with cleanup and recovery efforts in Texas after a string of severe storms in May and June 2015, according to an agency news release.

With the new incremental award to the Texas Workforce Commission, total funds awarded to date for have reached $2,155,068.

The purpose of the grants is to expand the service capacity of worker training and employment programs at the state and local levels but providing funding assistance.
