Coast Guard Seeking Boating Safety Council Members
The National Boating Safety Advisory Council advises the U.S. Coast Guard on recreational boating safety regulations and other major boating safety matters.
The U.S Coast Guard seeking applications to fill upcoming vacancies on the National Boating Safety Advisory Council, which advises the Coast Guard on recreational boating safety regulations and other major boating safety matters. Members serve three-year terms and may be considered to serve a maximum of two consecutive full terms; they serve at their own expense and receive no salary or other compensation from the federal government, with some exceptions for the council's meetings.
Applications are due by May 23 for seven positions that will be vacant Dec. 31, 2016:
- Two representatives of state officials responsible for state boating safety programs
- Three representatives of recreational boat and associated equipment manufacturers
- Two representatives of national recreational boating organizations or the general public
Applications also will be considered for one vacancy in the national recreation boating organizations of the general public membership category that was caused by the inability of a person appointed in 2016 to accept an appointment; this position's term expires Dec. 31, 2018.
