Washington State's 12th Annual Ag Safety Day Set for Feb. 24

The conference will feature training on how to manage hazards associated with ammonia; dairy and livestock safety; tractor/ATV safety; and potential health hazards in agriculture.

Wenatchee, Wash., a small city called as the "Apple Capital of the World" because of the area's many orchards, is the location for the 12th Annual Agriculture Safety Day, which is taking place Feb. 24 thanks to a partnership of the Washington Governor's Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board and the Department of Labor and Industries' Division of Occupational Safety and Health. Sponsors fro this year's event are the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic, the Washington Farm Bureau, Honeywell, and CASE Forensics.

The day's events will begin at 7 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m. The location is the Wenatchee Convention Center.

Many workshops will be offered in English and Spanish. The conference will feature training on how to manage hazards associated with ammonia; dairy and livestock safety; tractor/ATV safety; and potential health hazards in agriculture. Participants can earn Pesticide License recertification credits from qualifying classes. Admission at the door is $70; online pre-registration is $60 per person or $50 for groups of five or more.
