Minnesota Truck Driver Deemed an Imminent Hazard to Public Safety
The FMCSA declared John Ray Carpenter to be an imminent hazard and has ordered him not to operate any commercial vehicle.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration announced in a news release that Minnesota-licensed truck driver John Ray Carpenter has been deemed an imminent hazard to public safety, so the agency has ordered him not to operate any commercial motor vehicle in interstate or intrastate commerce.
According to the agency, Carpenter is medically unqualified to operate a commercial motor vehicle. He suffered a medical problem on Oct. 22 that caused his vehicle to cross into oncoming traffic, collide with a passenger vehicle, and fatally injure the driver, FMCSA reports.
Carpenter admitted to federal and state investigators that he had experienced six previous episodes while driving, some of which resulted in crashes.
