FAA Acts on Austin Control Tower After Flood Damage
The FAA has transferred responsibility for low-altitude airspace to the San Antonio radar approach control.
The FAA announced that it successfully transferred responsibility for low-altitude airspace in the Austin, Texas area to the San Antonio radar approach control.
After heavy rain, the radar room in Austin flooded, causing extensive damage that FAA estimates will take several weeks to complete. Until the repairs are complete, air traffic controllers from Austin will work in San Antonio. FAA workers rererouted low-altitude radar data and radio frequencies to positions in San Antonio.
