A+A 2015 Notebook: Dusseldorf's Top Attractions
Visitors to the city are eager to visit the Altstadt area, take in the view from the top of the Rheinturm, and admire the Gehry buildings at Medienhafen during their stay.
DUSSELDORF -- The A+A 2015 trade fair gave international visitors a perfect opportunity to visit this city's best tourist attractions. Unseasonably warm weather prevailed during the Oct. 27-30 expo days, welcoming visitors to enjoy the sights on foot as much as their schedules would allow. And the policy of allowing A+A attendees to travel free on the city's transit tram network during those days always makes it particularly easy to go beyond fairgrounds-to-hotel travel for a few hours, at least.
Visitors to this old city, which hosts many mega trade shows each year, are eager to visit the Altstadt ("old town") area of bars, shops, and restaurants; take in the view from the top of the Rheinturm tower; and admire the curving Frank Gehry-designed buildings at the city's Medienhafen site during their stay.
Strolling along the Rhine Promenade as barges and small boats travel the river, and also by the tranquil Konigsallee canal beside the store windows of some of the world's best-known luxury brands, are also favorite activities.
"It was a lovely city to view," one American making her first trip to the city said after visiting all of these sites during her October 2015 trip to Dusseldorf.
