Ergonomics Takes the Stage at A+A 2015
One Congress event will be focused on the construction industry: "Age-Appropriate Workplace Design in the Construction Industry." And ergonomic workplace design will be highlighted in Hall 10 at the trade fair with the heading "Health at Work."
DÜSSELDORF, Germany -- Ergonomics in the workplace is a central issue at A+A 2015, the International Trade Fair with Congress for Safety, Security and Health at Work that kicks off Oct. 27 in the sprawling trade fair site here. Nineteen halls with a total of 262,400 square meters of indoor exhibit space are here at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre, and about 1,800 A+A exhibitors are filling nine of those halls. Expected to set another record for exhibits' square feet and overall attendance, the trade fair continues through Oct. 30.
"Over the last few years, this issue has also been featured more prominently in German government policies, e.g. by expressly mentioning 'physical and mental health' in the German Occupational Health and Safety Act, by including the term 'ergonomics' in the amended Industrial Safety Regulation, and by mentioning precautions for 'substantial increases in physical stress' in the Preventative Occupational Healthcare Regulation," said André Klussmann of the ASER Institute. The Industrial Safety Regulation says employers must include ergonomic considerations when defining working routines and choosing materials, tools, and equipment.
A+A 2015's other central themes are PPE, corporate fashion/image wear, and safe equipment and machinery (halls 3, 4, 5, 7.0, 9, and 10); industrial fire protection and disaster/emergency management (halls 6 and 7a); and occupational health and wellness (hall 10).
The A+A Congress will showcase new trends in ergonomics through morning and afternoon keynote speeches and presentations. One of the keynote speakers will be Prof. Ralph Bruder, Ph.D., from the Institute of Ergonomics at the Technical University of Darmstadt, with a presentation titled "Humane Workplace Design – Productivity – Prevention: Ergonomics plays a key role in mastering digitization and demographic change."
The French journal Ergonoma also will present its "Ergonomics Village" in Hall 10.
In addition, a series of presentations titled "Ergonomics – from Theory to Practice" has been organized by the Commission for Occupational Health and Safety and Standardization to illustrate how ergonomics can be incorporated into work organization and design at offices and production sites.
