Washington L&I Mailing New Mandatory Posters This Month

The agency is sending the revised Job Safety and Health poster to all employers in Washington because the agency has adopted the injury reporting change instituted by federal OSHA.

Employers in Washington State are receiving a new Job Safety and Health poster this month from the state’s Department of Labor & Industries (L&I). They must post the new poster.

The poster was changed to reflect what employers must report to L&I: Within 24 hours, they must report when a worker suffers an amputation or loss of an eye and is not admitted to the hospital. (This is in addition to the existing requirement to report within eight hours any workplace fatality or inpatient hospitalization.)

L&I changed the requirement in order to comply with federal OSHA's change in reporting requirements.

L&I requires employers to post three workplace posters. The other two have not been changed, so employers don't need to replace them if they have the current version. They are:

  • Notice to Employees — If a Job Injury Occurs for employers who receive industrial insurance coverage through L&I; or Notice to Employees – Self-Insurance for self-insured businesses.
  • Your Rights as a Worker in Washington State .

All of the posters are in English and Spanish. They are free and can be downloaded and printed at www.Lni.wa.gov/RequiredPosters.
