EU Agency's 2015 Healthy Workplaces Film Award Finalists Announced

The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work has presented these since 2009. The award's prize money is € 5,000, about $5,637, and the prize will be awarded at DOK Leipzig -- the 58th International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film.

Films from numerous EU countries and beyond are shortlisted for the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work's 2015 Healthy Workplaces Film Awards. The agency has presented these since 2009. The award's prize money is €5,000, about $5,637, and the prize will be awarded at DOK Leipzig -- the 58th International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film, taking place Oct. 26 through Nov. 1.

The finalists include these titles:

  • Automatic Fitness (Germany, by Alejandra Tomei and Couceiro Alberto), described as an "animated and cynical satire on the bright and new world of work."
  • Like the Others (Austria, by Constantin Wulff), filmed at a child and adolescent psychiatric ward where young patients who got off track interact with doctors who have reached the limit of their strength.
  • Baptism of Fire (France, by Jerome Clement-Wilz), about young war reporters who travel to crisis spots at their own expense and risk their lives to shoot the photograph that will change everything.
  • Factory Complex (South Korea, by Heung-soon Im), looking the female workforce at Nike, Samsung, and H&M's call centers, supermarkets, and online shops.
  • Brumaire (France, by Joseph Gordillo), about the last French coal miners and precarious jobs for the young generation.
  • Work for One Day (Germany, by Rita Bakacs), about one-day jobs in the job center Berlin-Neukölln. "With plenty of luck they get hard work with low income. The film depicts the dead end of the precarious working society."
