Industrial Hygienists Sought for Board on Toxic Substances

Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez seeks nominees for service on an advisory board for the program that aids nuclear industry workers diagnosed with medical conditions as a result.

U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez is seeking nominations for individuals to serve on the Advisory Board on Toxic Substances and Worker Health for the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program. (EEOICPA). This program, along with the Workers’ Compensation Programs, provide compensation and medical benefits to nuclear weapons workers who were diagnosed with medical conditions related to exposure to toxic substances at covered nuclear facilities.

The board will consist of 12 to 15 members and will include industrial hygienists, toxicologists, and epidemiologists. The board will provide advice regarding medical guidance for claims examiners under the EEOICPA program.

Advisory board members will serve two- or three-year staggered terms.
