AIHA and NCICS to Host China-U.S. Occupational Health Symposia

The first-ever China-U.S. Occupational Health Symposia will be held on Sept. 15-16, 2015.

AIHA has announced it will jointly hold the first-ever China-U.S. Occupational Health Symposia with the National Center for International Cooperation in Work Safety, SAWS, China (NCICS). The symposia will take place on Sept. 15-16, 2015 in Shanghai, China, and 400 OHS professionals are expected to attend.

The theme of the symposia will be "Exploring Challenges and Opportunities in Occupational Health." According to a report, attendees will learn best practices from the United States and other developed countries, explore new paths of occupational health for China, and foster relevant industries.

"We are excited to team up with NCICS for the first-ever China-U.S. symposia focusing on occupational health,” said AIHA President Daniel H. Anna, PhD, CIH, CSP. “To help protect worker health internationally, it is imperative that we share our education and best practices with countries that may be facing challenges in occupational health."

Besides Anna, participants in the symposia are expected to include the leaders of OSHA and NIOSH, Dr. David Michaels and Dr. John Howard, respectively, as well as Lindsay E. Booher, CIH, CSP, manager of Human Factors Center of Excellence for Exxon Mobil Corporation, Peter J. O’Neil, AIHA's executive director, Wu Zongzhi, director-general of the Department of Occupational Health in China's State Administration of Work Safety, Wang Sheng, a professor at Beijing Medical University, Niu Shengli, senior expert at the International Labour Organization, Joachim Breuer, director general of German Social Accident Insurance, and Ho Siong Hin, commissioner for Workplace Safety and Health/ Divisional Director.
