3M Seeking All Scholarship Winners

The company's not in touch with many of the past winners of its annual scholarships and wants to hear from all of them in time for 2016's 30th year of the scholarship program.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Three, four, or five aspiring young professionals have won 3M scholarships in each of the past 29 years, including 2015, with the announcements and presentations timed to coincide with the annual AIHce conferences. Originally all winners were students seeking IH graduate degrees, but now graduate students in all EHS disciplines are eligible.

Nikki Vars McCullough, Ph.D., CIH, who is the 3M Personal Safety Division's global technical services manager and is a past scholarship winner herself, helped to introduce the three 2015 scholarship winners May 31 during 3M PSD's reception at the downtown Hilton here.

McCullough said afterward that 3M PSD hopes all past winners of scholarships will get in touch with the company prior to 2016's 30th year of the scholarship program, where 3M PSD wants to honor all of the past winners and the 2016 additions to their number.

There are probably about 100 past winners, and because the company's older records are on paper, 3M PSD has no contact information for some of them. Winners moved on from their schools and some probably changed their last name because of marriage, she said, adding that 3M PSD probably knows how to contact only about half of them.

3M PSD has created an email address, [email protected], and asks past winners to contact them via that address and to include "past winner" in the subject line.

The 2016 scholarship winners and winners from the prior 29 years will be honored during AIHce 2016, which will take place May 21-26 in Baltimore.
