AWEA's WindPower 2015 Conference Under Way

Thousands of wind energy professionals are meeting in Orlando to see and discuss the latest technology, the U.S. wind energy market, and safety in the industry.

The American Wind Energy Association's WindPower 2015 Conference & Expo is under way in Orlando this week, bringing thousands of industry professionals and exhibitors from around the world together in the South Building of the Orange County Convention Center.

Several companies specializing in fall protection and electrical safety training and products for this industry are exhibiting at the May 18-21 event, including Avanti Wind Systems (New Berlin, WI), Dakota Riggers & Tool Supply, Inc. (Sioux Falls, SD), ICM Safety (Chicago), Tech Safety Lines, Inc. (Carrollton, TX), and Tractel (Norwood, MA).

Five poster presentations are focused on safety in the wind industry, and there are several sessions devoted to this topic. Brian Sturtecky, area director in OSHA's Jacksonville Region, will present at 9 a.m. May 21 on "The OSHA/AWEA Alliance, OSHA's Position on the Wind Industry," and John Kolak, president of Praxis Corp., an electrical safety training company (Granbury, TX), will speak at the same day and time on "Changes to Federal Regulations for the Power Generation Industry, Impacts and Compliance."
