AIHA Seeking Entries for 'IH Fundance Film Festival' Contest

The festival involves AIHA members shooting a short video (two minutes or less), which is then uploaded on YouTube and promoted on Twitter. The purpose of this contest is to raise awareness and the profile of industrial/occupational hygiene.

AIHA is encouraging its members to enter the IH Fundance Film Festival by May 29. The contest involves AIHA members shooting a short video (two minutes or less), which is then uploaded to YouTube and promoted on Twitter. The purpose of the contest is to raise awareness and the profile of industrial/occupational hygiene.

There will be three cash prize winners, with each winner getting a $500 cash prize at the 2015 AIHce Conference. One of the three cash prize winners will be entitled to a grand prize, a free 2016 AIHce registration. The entrants will be judged by AIHce conference attendees using the conference mobile app.

"The mission of the IH Fundance Film Festival is not only to have fun, but to take the winning videos and share them with schools to educate students at the elementary, middle, high, and university levels, about the importance of industrial hygiene and to plant seeds with the hope of inspiring the next generation of IH/OH professionals. Contestants who submit will gain extra points in the judging process if the video is appropriate for educating kids about IH," according to the contest entry page.

Although the video can be produced by multiple people, the video contest application for the $500 cash prize and potential grand prize can only be made in one entrant's name. Entries must be the original work of the entrants and should not contain any copyrighted materials or inappropriate content. The entrant also must obtain approval from other persons photographed or filmed in the video (where used) for their permission for the video to be used on social media.

Entrants must create the video, upload it to YouTube, and the AIHA website (www.AIHA.org) and the hashtag #IHFundance must be placed in the description section when uploading the video to YouTube. Entrants must promote the video on Twitter by tweeting a link to their YouTube video using the hashtag #IHFundance. Entrants must go to http://aihce2015.org/ihfundancecontest/ to complete their application form and include a link to their YouTube video no later than May 29, 2015.

The selection criteria are weighted and include creativity and production quality.
