Worker Dies in Fall from Stage Outside Super Bowl Stadium
A construction worker is dead after falling from a stage being built in a parking lot outside the University of Phoenix Stadium.
Glendale, Ariz., police say a 31-year-old man was pronounced dead at a hospital after being seriously injured Jan. 21 while working on construction associated with the upcoming NFL Super Bowl, according to a Canadian Occupational Safety report.
Police Sgt. Dave Viadure said the incident appeared to be a workplace accident. The Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating.
COS reported that NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said the worker was hired through a subcontractor to help assemble the stage for the NFL Tailgate Party and that the worker fell approximate 25-30 feet.
